A knife forged with earnestness: instead of forging from pre-laminated steel, Xin Guo forge-weld the knife completely by hand. This category of products is regarded as “hon-sanmai” in Japan.
SKS-31 steel, a type of high-carbon alloy tool steel, similar to Aogami 2, is used as the steel core. It was treated to a hardness of around 64 HRC, giving the blade an impressive wear resistance and toughness.
The metal flow line has been brought to the surface through kurozome (etching); the silvery spots are ferrite crystals left from the forging process.
As for the finishing, the blade features his signature-esque, beautifully polished choil, spine and tapering from spine to tip.
