This is a very challenging piece — Blue Super steel with a mountain-style hamon, and in a large size. There was a small forging mistake that made the jigane pattern less perfect than intended, so it’s offered at a discount. This flaw is only cosmetic and does not affect performance at all.

Xinguo Aogami Super Honyaki Jihada Series

The tungsten in Aogami Super steel imparts a stunning bluish tint to the blade after etching. The repeated thermal cycling process creates an impressive amount of Jihada (Carbide banding) on the blade. it adds an exquisite aesthetic touch to enhancing that mesmerizing blue glow.

Every step of the forging process is meticulously monitored and measured to ensure the highest quality and consistency of the blade.After “Tsuchioki”, the blade underwent double quenching, first into water and then oil. This process allows the blade to achieve a higher hardness as well as retaining more of its toughness by slowly cooling down the blade in oil. This also increases the success rate of the quench.

In terms of grinding and finishing, the Xinguo team consistently pursues an exceptional level of craftsmanship. The entire knife is mirror-polished to near perfection, with every detail finished smoothly and seamlessly, fully showcasing the quality of top-tier craftsmanship.
