Matsubara Hamono (Tanaka-Kama Industry), based in Omura City, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan, has been operating for over 90 years. Led by the 4th generation knife smith, Katsuto Tanaka and his son. Their knives are crafted using traditional hand-forging and grinding techniques, all at competitive prices. These features have made them well-regarded both in Japan and abroad.

This blade is hand forged with stainless clad, Aogami 2 steel, a high carbon steel core that is favoured by many chefs and knifemakers alike. This composition offers a greater degree of protection from corrosion while offering decent performance of carbon steel.

As per usual, this blade features a significant blade height of 50mm+, offering good knuckle clearance and able to offer a longer service life. Aesthetically, the knife features a rustic and texturous tsuchime pattern, a classic sandblasted hairline finish. With an exceptional taper, this blade offered an unrivalled price-to-performance ratio in the currently oversaturated Japanese knife market.
