A Knifemaker that deserves more attention: Yoshimi Kato
Yoshimi Katou is the son-in-law of Hiro Kato, having apprenticed under his father-in-law at Kanehiro Hamono to learn the art of knife forging. Yu Kurosaki, now a world-renowned knifemaker, also trained under the same master alongside Yoshimi Katou, resulting in many similarities in the knives they produce. In 2017, Katou took over the workshop and renamed it Katou Hamono.
This series features sleek Nickel Damascus cladding and a VG10 core, with kurozome creating a strong visual contrast against the greyed-out metal. The knife is optimized for cutting performance, boasting an exceptionally acute taper and a rounded, polished choil and spine for an optimal user experience.
