The name “Yozan” evokes imagery of continuous, majestic—yet ominous—mountain ranges. Its fundamental concept lies in merging traditional Honyaki techniques with the intricate artistry of Damascus steel.
The edge-side core is made up of a 105-layer torsion Damascus, composed of Aogami 1, Aogami 2, Shirogami 1, Shirogami 2, and two undisclosed steels. On the other hand, the spine-side core consists of a 503-layer torsion Damascus.
The exterior cladding is built from two distinct Damascus structures. A 1,872-layer Damascus is halved and positioned to flank the core, while an additional Damascus structure—also forming the spine-side—is halved and applied as the outermost layer. Altogether, this results in a remarkably complex construction with a total of 2,983 layers, producing a blade that is as visually captivating as it is technically sophisticated.
