Description
This Gyuto is our latest collaboration with Xinguo, and we have named it “Twilight.”

The blade is forged from Baker Forge & Tool’s signature FireStorm Ripple pattern. At its foundation is a Damascus billet composed of alternating 1084 and 18N20 with copper sheet. The result is a complex, multi-layered composition that moves beyond traditional copper Damascus, offering greater depth, contrast, and visual intensity.

Xinguo adopted a more Western-oriented blade profile and incorporated the S-grind, a geometry commonly seen in Western custom knives. Subtle concave transitions along both sides of the blade reduce cutting resistance and improve food release, delivering a smoother and more efficient cutting experience. The shifting planes allow the pattern to stretch and curve through light and shadow, revealing new dimensions as the blade moves.

Through meticulous polishing and controlled acid etching, the blade develops a captivating finish. Like the final light of sunset fading across the horizon, warm bronze tones flow through layers of grey Damascus and darkened steel.
