Timo Verschuren is a knifemaker from the Netherlands who, at just twenty years old, has already earned serious recognition among Western makers. His knives are used and collected by chefs and collectors worldwide. What sets him apart is not only the visual complexity of his Damascus work, but the level of control he brings to kitchen knife geometry.

He began forging at the age of twelve after seeing a blacksmith at work in the French countryside. That moment stayed with him. Without formal training or an apprenticeship, he taught himself through constant experimentation, research, and repetition, working out of a small shed at his parents’ home.

In the beginning, he built most of his own tools, including his first forge and belt grinder. Every improvement to his workshop came from reinvesting what he earned back into better equipment and higher standards. By seventeen, still in high school, he was fully committed to knifemaking. Purchasing his first power hammer marked a major step forward, allowing him to push his forging and pattern development further.

Today, Timo creates his own Damascus compositions and works extensively with San Mai construction, often using high performance carbon steels such as Apex Ultra. His knives are known for clean lines, thin and efficient edges, strong distal taper, and carefully tuned geometry.
