Ji Rui’s most representative masterpiece to date, “Danxia,” stands as the definitive pinnacle of his craftsmanship.

Forged from a 193-layer copper-nickel Damascus construction with an Apex Ultra core, the blade demonstrates an exceptional level of artisanal skill. Varying proportions of copper and nickel are meticulously combined and entirely hand forge-welded into a unified structure. The complexity of this build is extraordinarily high, with significant risk of failure at every stage. Its completion demands immense time, technical precision, and seasoned experience.

The finished blade radiates shifting tones of warm copper and silver. Under changing light, the layered metals flow and shimmer with remarkable depth, evoking a landscape both majestic and refined. Enhanced by a black-etched finish, the contrast between copper and nickel becomes even more pronounced, revealing intricate patterning and striking dimensionality.

Ji Rui named this knife “Danxia” in reference to the Danxia landform, a unique geological formation characterized by steep red sandstone cliffs shaped through millions of years of weathering and erosion. Renowned for their glowing crimson rock formations, these mountains combine flat summits, sheer cliffs, and sweeping foothills into a breathtaking natural panorama. True to its name, the knife mirrors layered red stone illuminated by shifting light, expressing both geological grandeur and

enduring stillness.
