Masakage is a small Echizen-based collective that works with skilled smiths like Yoshimi Kato to produce handmade knives that balance traditional craft with approachable, everyday performance.

The Yuki line features a Shirogami (White #2) carbon steel core clad in stainless steel for easier maintenance. The blade wears a frosty nashiji “snow” finish and a lightweight wa-handle, giving it a clean, understated look that suits both home cooks and professionals.

The gyuto can be seen as the Japanese counterpart to the Western chef’s knife, with a highly versatile profile that handles vegetables, meats, and most everyday prep tasks with ease.
