Nigara Hamono is a historic knife workshop from Hirosaki, Aomori, with over 350 years of sword‑ and blade‑making tradition, now renowned for artful kitchen knives that blend classic forging with modern design.

This SPG STRIX tsuchime Damascus santoku uses Takefu Special Steel’s latest‑generation stainless powder steel, noted by the manufacturer for fine carbide distribution, strong edge retention, corrosion resistance, and relatively easy sharpening.

Petty knives are used for peeling, trimming, shaping and slicing fruits and vegetables, mincing herbs, garnishing, and other fine tasks that are awkward with a full‑size chef’s knife. Light and maneuverable, they are ideal for in‑hand work and cutting smaller ingredients both on and off the board.

Visually, the matte blade is sculpted with crescent hammer marks, while a dramatic river of layered damascus flows along the edge, giving a gallery‑piece presence that matches its thin, performance‑oriented grind.
