Description

Nigara Hamono is a historic knife workshop from Hirosaki, Aomori, with over 350 years of sword‑ and blade‑making tradition, now renowned for artful kitchen knives that blend classic forging with modern design.

This SPG STRIX tsuchime Damascus santoku uses Takefu Special Steel’s latest‑generation stainless powder steel, noted by the manufacturer for fine carbide distribution, strong edge retention, corrosion resistance, and relatively easy sharpening.

A santoku features a short, relatively tall blade with a gentle belly to the edge and a softer, less aggressive tip. It’s essentially a compact version of a gyuto designed for home cooks—equally versatile for everyday prep, but in a shorter, more nimble and forgiving format.

Visually, the matte blade is sculpted with crescent hammer marks, while a dramatic river of layered damascus flows along the edge, giving a gallery‑piece presence that matches its thin, performance‑oriented grind.
