The Arare Series is one of Takayuki Shibata’s latest releases and is part of the Tsunehisa family.
In Japanese, "Arare" refers to a small rice cracker. The name comes from the irregular Tsuchime patterns on the blade, which resemble the shape of arare rice crackers.
The blade features an SG2 powdered steel core. Although similar knives have become very common in the Japanese knife market, Designed under the guidance of Shibata-san and his "Art over Beauty" philosophy, it has a character of its own.
Every part of the knife is carefully finished. The spine and choil are chamfered for a more comfortable grip, while the exceptionally thin grind provides a clean and effortless cutting experience. The surface finish is subtle and well balanced, making the knife both distinctive and practical for everyday use.
If you are looking for a practical, high-performance knife with a unique design, the Arare Series is well worth considering.
