The blade and handle are formed as one continuous piece, Its core uses Shirogami 2 steel, surrounded by a Damascus cladding made from a combination of vintage chinese wrought iron, nickel steel, and other metals.

The cladding has been finished with a deep etch, revealing a complex pattern with strong contrast and depth. The layered structure flows across the blade before gathering around the handle, where a series of openings creates an almost otherworldly appearance. Like wormholes connecting distant points in space, these openings give the knife its name.

Yao has long admired the work of Shoichi Hashimoto. This piece carries a subtle influence from Hashimoto-san’s approach, while remaining a distinct expression of Yao’s own ideas and craftsmanship. The inspiration can be seen in the sculptural form, the integration of blade and handle, and artistic experimentation.
