This special edition from Yoshihiro’s Ginsan series is available in extremely limited quantities. It features a mirror finish and two "Hi" (grooves), giving the yanagiba a more refined and distinctive appearance.
Forging is carried out in Sakai by traditional craftsman Mr. Yamatsuka. Grinding and finishing are completed by the specialist sharpening team at Yamawaki Hamono’s own workshop.
The blade uses Ginsan steel, known for its fine edge, strong corrosion resistance, good edge retention, and excellent sharpening response. It offers the cutting characteristics of carbon steel with easier maintenance, making it especially suitable for a yanagiba.
Yamawaki Hamono are regarded as some of the best-ground knives among Sakai-made examples. Apart from heat treatment, grinding is one of the most important stages in knife production. It determines the blade geometry, sharpness, balance, and cutting feel.
The price is substantial, but the craftsmanship, grinding quality, and overall finish make this a knife that is truly worth the investment.
